Did You Know?

The Dallas-Fort Worth regions are in the midst of a Suicide Crisis.

Suicide was the second leading cause of death among teenagers and young adults in the DFW areas during 2010-2011.

Over the past three years, (2009-2011) suicide rates have increased to an all time high in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

As recent as five years ago, suicide was listed as the eighth leading cause of death among teens and young adults nationally. Currently it is the third leading cause of death in those age categories.

Nation wide, there is a suicide every eighteen minutes. In simplier terms, today a minimum of eighty (80) people will take their own lives.

This seminar will present information which will help you recognize and respond to "at risk" individuals.You will be trained to utilizie these interpersonal communication skills for suicide intervention purposes.

What is Suicide Intervention?

I am an advocate and trainer of Suicide Intervention Skills. I have trained over a thousand individuals in basic intervention skills. Many of my students, using these skills, have saved others who were “at risk” for suicide.

There is a significant difference between Suicide Prevention and Suicide Intervention and it is best understood by comparing it with the following analogy.
