Home Family Topics Greeting Card Line
Families have two options concerning the Christmas season. It can either be joyful or hectic. Here’s a suggestion to make the task of sending Christmas cards enjoyable.

The sending of Christmas greeting cards is a long time tradition but it seems in most families, there is one individual (usually Mom) who ends up doing all the work. For families with children, try implementing a Family Greeting Card Line. Based on children’s age and ability designate the following:

1.    Cursive Inscriber – responsible for writing the Pre-Designated Mother Approved Greeting in each card. Remember the KISS rule. “Keep It Simply Simple.”
2.    Address Printer – responsible for printing the address of the recipient you intend to bless.
3.    Return Address Printer – this can be the same child or you can use a younger child to affix a pre-printed return address label.
4.    Final Reviewer – this may be Mom, or an older child who inspects to ensure the correct card is inserted inside the correctly addressed envelope.
5.    Envelop Sealer – this can be one of the younger children with the privilege of using the wet cloth, sponge, paper towel, or postage sealer to wet and seal envelopes.
6.    Postage Fixer – consider using self-adhesive postage so the youngest child can get involved.
7.    Official Bearer of the Cards – another dubious distinction for the youngest member of the family. This task includes parental escort to the area drop box or to add more excitement, to the local post office.

A wonderful incentive is incorporating the promise of a surprise meal (pizza or lunch at an area restaurant). This usually ensures joint cooperation and anticipation by all.

For our procrastinating friends: Some families miss out on this joy because they feel cards must arrive by Christmas Day. This is not the case. It’s the thought, not the date of arrival that counts especially for family members deployed over seas.
