Did you know in the United States a suicide occurs every eighteen minutes?

Did you know we have an on-going suicide crisis in our midst? (In 2010-11 suicide was the 3rd leading cause of death among teenagers and young adults in the DFW areas.)

Did you know there were more than forty suicides in the DFW region in 2010 and 2011?

Did you know thus far, there have been no fewer than six suicides in our area this year? (2012)

Did you know in the past three months, there have been three homicide-suicide events in our region which have wiped out three families? (South Dallas, DeSoto, and Lancaster)

Did you know nationally the largest number of suicides occur from mid January to the end of March?

It's time to stop the senseless loss of life. It's time to learn Suicide Intervention Skills.

Flame Think, Inc.
mission is to provide values based training and education intended to strengthen communities across the region, state and nation through workshops and seminars providing skills in basic Suicide Intervention.

Our goal is to provide vital professional training to aid in identifying potential “at risk” individuals. Additionally we seek to introduce schools, churches, and businesses to the need and viability of the strategic placement of Intervention Teams.

Basic Suicide Intervention is not the same thing as traditional Suicide Awareness and Prevention programs. While every one is responsible to monitor an Awareness and Prevention program, it takes uniquely qualified and talented people to be part of an Intervention Team.

Basic Suicide Intervention is in and of itself ‘suicide first aid.’ It incorporates the use of specific verbal and non-verbal communication skills designed to help those receiving this training (known as caregivers) to be able to connect with at risk people, gain their trust, and bring them to a point of safety where law enforcement and/or medical experts can take over.

Qualifications necessary to acquire Suicide Intervention Training from Flame Think, Inc.:
1.    Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
2.    Must possess exemplary interpersonal communication skills
3.    Must be able to listen attentively
4.    Must be able to take the 2-day (12 hours) seminar in its entirety

Flame Think, Inc. conducts basic Suicide Intervention Training at a cost of $250.00 per person but offers a $50 discount for those who pre-register by email or via our web site at www.flamethink.com.
